About me
I’m Charlotte, a Level 2 ACA‑registered counsellor and the founder of Grounded Actions Counselling. I’ve worked in community‑based Non-Government Organisation (NGO) roles around Gladstone since 2021, in both counselling and case management with people aged 12+. A lot of my work has been alongside people navigating substance use, mental health struggles, neurodivergence-related stressors, and court or justice matters.
Before moving into counselling, I spent nine years living and working in regional and remote areas, including time on mining sites and in the outback. I saw up close how long hours, distance from support networks, work stress and small‑town dynamics can slowly build into drinking or drug use to cope, simmering anger, job issues, exhaustion and conflict at home. This personal experience helps me sit alongside clients who are under a lot of pressure with a grounded, “I get why this is hard” perspective rather than judgement from the sidelines.
When you come to session with me, you can expect a practical, down‑to‑earth space where we work together to build a toolkit you can actually use in real life. We might experiment with ways to handle urges, manage anger, cope with stress after a heavy day, or have hard conversations at home without everything blowing up. The aim is for you to leave feeling clearer about what you want to work towards, and more confident using the tools you’ve chosen, so life feels more workable and you feel more grounded and in charge of your next steps.
